Gain granular control of your bandwidth usage with rate limiting

At Meter, we’ve reimagined internet, Wi-Fi, and networking from the ground up. As part of this, we’ve been highly purposeful in creating a vertically integrated stack — across hardware, software, and operations — that enables us to maintain a high velocity of feature releases.

We're excited to introduce a powerful new capability to the Meter dashboard: rate limiting. This feature will soon be integrated with the rest of your enterprise controls, allowing for precise configuration of network traffic and improved performance customization. Leverage this tool to gain peace of mind by preventing network overload and subsequent downtime, and save you time and money as you navigate managing your network.

Ensure bandwidth equity and mitigate risk with rate limiting

You asked, we answered. We’ve continually heard about the need for rate limiting, sometimes referred to as bandwidth shaping, from many customers across education institutions, co-working spaces, and 3PL firms — now it’s here.

By controlling the rate of incoming or outgoing requests, you will be able to ensure your users have fair access to network resources, minimize strain on servers, and better protect your network from DoS and DDoS attacks by limiting the rate of incoming requests. Rate limiting also can help guarantee your guest networks do not weigh down your network by providing the appropriate bandwidth.

Meter customers may now shape bandwidth to the granularity of Kbps, specify rates for individual VLANs, and select limits to or from local client subnets and remote destinations, respectively.
